On Nov. 1, the Akaka Falls Lions Club, family members and Hui O Na Kolohe Senior Softball team joined forces to do some fence repair at Gilbert Carvalho Park.

The ball field fencing was loose and curling up in the outfield, allowing balls to roll under.

Pipe was added to the bottom of the fencing to better secure the chain link in place. There were many places the fencing had come loose at the top rail and up high at the back top. Wire stays were put in place to secure the fencing as needed. Dirt also was packed under certain areas under the fence, where it had been washed out, to close the gap.

Supplies for the fence repair were provided by the County of Hawaii. The service project was chaired by Lion Bob Lovin.
